“Heart 360 Check.Change.Control”
The “Heart 360 Check.Change.Control” program is is part of our Hispanic Healthy Lifestyle Choices Project, and designed for people with high blood pressure or a risk of high blood pressure. It is a 4 month program, from January to April. We set up 8 sessions in West Bend and 8 in Hartford, where participants can come and get their blood pressure taken with a registered nurse, and take part in either a heart healthy cooking demonstration or a fun, physical activity. To successfully implement this program, we are currently collaborating with the American Heart Association, Froedtert Health-St. Joseph's Hospital, the Kettle Moraine YMCA, Amy Wickert (ZUMBA instructor), Mind and Body Balance, and Mattek Ballroom Dancing
During the course of the program, we want participants to establish what is a normal blood pressure reading for them so they are able to monitor and alert their healthcare professional should their BP numbers increase in the future. We also want this program to enable participants to make healthier lifestyle choices that lead to overall wellbeing.
